What is ACPLIB Chat?
ACPLIB Chat is Albany College of Pharmacy Library Chat, a service that offers real-time reference assistance using AOL Instant Messenger (AIM).
What do I need to get started?
If you are new to instant messaging, follow the steps below:

to www.aim.com |

Fill out a quick Web form |

Choose a screen name |

Start using AIM in 1-2 minutes |
What if I don't want to
download software on my computer?
You can
connect to the web only version of
AOL IM, AIM Express, which requires
no download.
What if I am not on my own computer?
If you have a screen name, you can connect to AIM anywhere online. Just connect to AIM Express, or connect to AIM through Meebo, a Web only client.
How do I begin
an ACPLIB chat session?
Add our screen
name, ACPLIB, to your AOL buddy
list. Double-click on our screen
name, or select New IM and type our
screen name in the To: box.
When is the
ACPLIB chat service available?
The service is
available whenever the Reference
Desk is open. Regular hours during
the academic year are: Monday
through Thursday, 9:30 am-3:30 pm;
Friday, 9:30 am-3:30 pm.
Will a
librarian answer right away or will
I have to wait?
Your IM
session connects you with the
librarian at the Reference Desk. You
may have to wait a couple of minutes
for a response if the librarian is
helping users in person or is on the
phone. Questions are answered in the
order received.
How can I get
assistance if ACPLIB chat is
unavailable?
The library
can also answer your questions by
email, phone, or in person. See the
top of this page for all the options.
